Agents & Agencies
Agents and agencies have a significant influence in the club football landscape. They represent players and head coaches in player contract negotiations and work for clubs and players, sometimes both at the same time, on transfer negotiations. The larger agents/agencies are powerful partly because they negotiate on multiple deals with multiple clubs and therefore know the landscape better than the individual clubs they negotiate with. As player contracts and transfers have increased over time, so have the agent commissions and general unrest at how much money is ‘going out of football’. The FIFA Transfer Taskforce is exploring various approaches to the agent landscape and the UEFA Intelligence Centre has provided various studies to inform this process.
