Player Careers

Professional playing careers take many different paths, increasingly international in nature, and the Intelligence Centre monitors these trends and creates insights. In addition the profile and use of playing squads differ significantly between clubs, countries and over time. The Intelligence Centre also tracks player development and use of locally trained players.

The Intelligence Centre Players’ Career and Profile database knits together full player histories using different public sources (OPTA, SoccerWay, Transfermarkt) and player registration data submitted directly to UEFA. The database links numerous data sets including:

Player history (passport)
Trends player usage/ recruitment
Squad size analysis
Player demographics
Usage locally trained players and youth players
Club development index
